What is Acne?
Acne is a chronic skin condition of inflammation of the oil glands, usually associated with an oily skin. During puberty due to hormonal effects the oil glands are stimulated producing excessive skin oils on scalp and face and the more typical white heads, blackheads and pimples may develop on: face, neck, shoulders, back and chest. Virtually all teenagers may expect to suffer from minor degrees of acne, but in some cases it may be so severe as to end up with scarring. It may also last for many months or even years. Enlargement of the pores of the central face on nose and cheek, may develop if the tendency runs in families.
